Located in the heart of California’s agricultural region, Preserve is both my favorite neighborhood restaurant as well as a NorCal destination. Artful food and surroundings tickle the palate as much as Penelope, the resident cat, will tease your affections. Be sure to put the charming town of Winters on your list.   

**Special note: Not all is happy with my ensemble because my source for the silk blouse, a beloved boutique, is out of business. We can't afford to lose more locally owned, independent shops. Remember, they support you with unique goods, quality service, jobs, taxes, charitable contributions, local culture ...

Yolo Traders Bistro

One of my dearest friends is a curmudgeon, which gives her special standing when it comes to recommendations. She loves Yolo Traders Bistro, and I love it, too. Seafood prepared with a delicate Mexican/Asian fusion.

Nothing maniacal here. Sweet Asylum carries the softest fabrics and colors with unexpected details for a cozy, costal vibe. Make every day a beach day.

Scott Lyall Clothes for Men

I love a man in Robert Graham. These semi-custom shirts are my husband’s go-to for gigs when he shreds it up with his band. Anyone can dress like a rock star. The West Coast’s fifth largest distributor also carries other great brands and is a quick, easy stop for the shopping-reluctant male.    

Yvonne

This is my store. At least it should be. For almost 30 years, Yvonne has been responsible for the majority of my wardrobe. From casual to resort, business to special events, this boutique has you covered (or uncovered if you take advantage of the stunning lingerie). Stay current with timeless classics and save money in the long run. With most of my pieces still in rotation after several years, Yvonne is a viable solution to more sustainable fashion.

Vanity by the Sea

For the most part, I look like a stinging insect when trying on sunglasses and that’s why I hate this particular task. So it makes infinite sense to keep my selection finite, especially when fellow shoppers (like my husband) giggle at my expense. Strong inventory abates indecision and anguish.
